I think creative destruction will be far more profound than any generation can imagine.

With the emergence of new information technologies we don't and will not value much of anything except our collective connectedness of information and not need much more than a workstation and something to do on it
+ food and shelter.

It seems as if all we held dear and of value has been destroyed by the information age.

As someone also in the Gen X camp (will be 36 in Sept. 08) I can identify with the sentiments of Fishman and Sandeep. Although I personally had some issues (panic attacks, depression) that kept me from realizing my "full potential" (whatever that is) I did really lose out on a great deal of my twenties and early thirties by not continuing my education or bettering myself financially and employment-wise.

I'm only now trying to reel the hook of debt out of my cheeks and get on the path to financial liberation. I've realized, finally, that credit cards and debt in general is Evil™; therefore, in my ongoing financial struggles I've determined that I will not utilize them henceforth. It's hard because I have the "Buy Now!" mentality endemic to a lot of us Gen-X-ers but a little planning, patience and saving go a long way.
